Jacketed elbows are pipe elbows equipped with a jacket (enclosure) around the main pipe. The jacket allows a thermal fluid (usually water, steam, or heated or cooled oil) to circulate around the main pipe to maintain or adjust the temperature of the fluid flowing inside the pipe.
